As much as we love fast road bikes with skinny tires and quick handling, we figured out early on that we wanted a bike for a different type of riding. Exploring dirt paths and gravel roads, riding in the rain, commuting, or running errands wearing normal clothes – sometimes extreme measures call for resuscitating the past.
Our Strada Bianca model (“white road” in Italian) is designed like a 60s-era road race bike. It’s fast on smooth pavement but relaxed-yet-tough when the road turns to trail, cobbles, gravel, or dirt. Whether it’s wearing fenders, carrying a light load, ridden on civilized roads or un-, or fitted with a lighting system – this bike does it all.
Most builds will utilize 57mm mid-reach caliper rim brakes. TRP and Velo Orange make great caliper versions or we can build for Paul Racer M (or similar) centerpull brakes for that quick-stopping, old-school vibe.
Our favorite forks for this model are Whiskey Parts Co. #7 Road+ or a custom steel fork made right here at HampCo Seattle.
Finally, we have several steel tubing options for these bikes: round tubes or shaped; lightweight or more robust – it all depends on the application and the desired ride. Our titanium frames are constructed from straight-gauge 3/2.5 tubing chosen to suit each rider.
