Yes, the name is cribbed from Casey and his site of the same name. He did the graphic design work for Maglia ROSA and we owe him many thanks for his clear vision, great ideas, and complete lack of screwing around. (Ok, Ernesto did a lugged frame back in the 1980s with the same name but we never felt that his heart was really in it.)
Superissimo is our steel race frame aimed at medium-to-large riders and it features Columbus Spirit HSS shaped top and down tube, MAX chainstays, SL seat stays and Life seat tube, choice of BB, D-11-sized head tube, and the price includes a Falz or Enve carbon fork and King D-11 headset. A larger head tube for a tapered 43mm Enve fork is available for an extra $200.
New for 2015 is our SuperLeggera variant: same sexist tube shapes and wall thicknesses/butt profiles/alloy from Columbus but now with new smaller diameters – Columbus calls this their “Spirit” line. We like it as we can build a great frame for those who like to ride up hills fast and aren’t built like rugby players, or want the lightest steel frame we can build. We prefer to build this with a threaded BB shell, “normal” 1.125″ headset, and choice of Falz or Minimal fork.
Current paint choices are Squadra Azurra (shown), ’71 Cuda Plum Crazy, and Verdigris (as seen on the Carbonario) but we’ll listen to requests for custom colors that work with our cream and pink decals – think blues, grays, etc. We’re asking $2800 and these are being designed with slightly racier geometries than the Hampsten frames. Each frame is built to order and will take a few months.
Superissimo – for when the big boss says “win!”
