Parts/Kits:
Kits include every part to make your dream machine. I can work closely with you on selecting the ideal models and sizes of stem, handlebars, cranks, gearing, etc. And I feel that Chris King headsets, Fizik saddles and tape, and King bottle cages are terrific products that come at a fair price, so these are included in most quotes despite their higher cost. Typically, our charge is $150-200 for whole bike assembly and $200 to pack and ship, or as quoted.
Parts prices for your proposed new bike may be quoted at no obligation. You may choose from Campagnolo, Shimano, and SRAM for your new build; full kits for a new bike start at $1500 and go up pretty quickly from there. Older parts available by special order and our mechanics love nothing more than working with weird French stuff.
Forks:
We use forks from Advanced Composites (Wound Up) and Edge Composites. They all make great products, provide a wide range of models to choose from, and all forks we sell work with 28mm tires at a minimum.
Our Strada Bianca model requires a special fork built for long-reach/57mm calipers, which are made by Wound Up to our specifications. Edge forks will work with up to a 29mm tire using short-reach calipers. Steel forks for selected Hampsten and Tournesol models are made in-house here at HampCo.
Wheels:
HampCoâ„¢ hand-built wheels using Mavic Open Pro or DT Swiss 465 rims and spokes:
DT Swiss 240s hubs – $750
DA10 hubs – $750
Chris King hubs – $850
Pre-built wheels available as quoted.
Colors:
A good resource for color choice is the Co-Motion color page…
…or the Independent Fabrication color page, pdf download.
Decals:
Our Moderne decals are designed by famed typographer Paul Barnes – the font is called “Andy Hampsten” – and feature a re-drawn boar and brand-new down tube graphic, all in solid colors.
- Black
- Blue
- Gold
- Orange
- Red
- White
The Neo-Moderne collection are as above but feature a solid color with contrasting outline:
- Yellow with red outline
- Blue with dark blue outline
- Red with black outline
- White with red outline
- White with black outline
Smilin’ Andy on the seat tube, as always.
Tournesol decals are:
- Cream/yellow with red
- Cream/yellow with blue
Our preference, and our usual recommendation with both Hampsten and Tournesol, is for single-color paint schemes with minimal decals. We feature a boar on the head tube, “Hampsten†on the down tube, and Smilin’ Andy (or a boar) on the seat tube. Tournesol frames have sunflowers on the head and seat tubes, “Tournesol†on the down tube. Tres simple, less is more, etc.
