Squadra is our latest effort: custom carbon tube-to-tube frames made right here at HampCo Seattle. Peter Graham – ex-shop lead at Mad Fiber carbon wheels – is spearheading the effort with technical input from Nick Crumpton. We source our custom tubes and molded components from Enve Composites in Utah and our joint wrap is Mitsubishi TR-50 with a Newport 301 resin.
The goal here was the lightest, strongest, most comfortable frame we could build – and we hit it! We mix and match tubes and forks to suit riders of all sizes and we can brand these as either Maglia ROSA or Hampsten. What we like about the Squadra is that is has the stiffness, immediacy, and light weight of an aluminum frame; the plush ride of our favorite steel frames; and the strength and bomb-proof feel of titanium.
We can build these for any current shifting system: Di2, EPS, eTAP, or mechanical. Choose from straight or tapered Enve fork steerer and we’ll include the appropriate King headset; seatpost is 27.2mm, front der is 35mm clamp-on; BB is for PF30 and we’ll include a King BB or Parlee BB cups for Campy, if that’s how you roll.
Current paint choices are Squadra Azurra (shown), ’71 Cuda Plum Crazy, BMW Delphin Grey, and Verdigris (as seen on the Carbonario) but we’ll listen to requests for custom colors that work with our cream and pink decals – think blues, grays, etc. We’re asking $4200, each frame is built to order and will take a couple of months, includes limited lifetime warranty.
Squadra – not just another pretty team bike.
