Classic

Compounding the obvious lack of a ‘70s style road bike in our line-up was our desire to build a frame using the Alpha Q CS25 carbon fork; combine the two et voila, “Classic”. The CS25 is designed for use with 57mm brake calipers, works great with 23-to-30mm tires (we recommend 27/28mm), and fits a 35mm Honjo fender with skinny tires.

The geometry that makes the most sense for this bike sits between our skinny-tire Gran Paradiso/Pro/Race geometry and our fat-tire-centric Strada Bianca geometry. This is what we might call Classic Belgian Geometry if we were to give tribute to 1970’s racing icons such as Eddy Merckx and Roger De Vlaeminck, bushy sideburns included.

Think of this as a fast road bike that can take fenders; as a light, sporty commuter/winter bike; or as the ultimate weapon for Ronde van Vlaanderen. Our Strada Bianca model will take a larger tire and fender and is designed to feel more stable on rough roads but the Classic counters with lighter weight and a more race-like feel.

Our aluminum, carbon, and steel frames include your choice of perfect paint or clear, 953 frames get a brushed finish, and titanium frames sport a smooth bead-blasted surface treatment. We offer a good selection of groovy decals – check with Steve to see what is on hand this week.

(The orange frame shown uses Columbus MAX and Spirit tubing, welded by Co-Motion. MAX tubing supplies are limited-to-nonexistent, please inquire if interested. MAX tubing rides just fine but no better than modern round tubes, ioho)
